Position Overview:

Futurism is looking for an enthusiastic media sales Account Executive with a revenue-focused, creative mindset to join our team. This role involves being part of a growing, fast-paced cross-functional team including day-to-day sales, client strategy/relations, and campaign delivery to hit quarterly revenue goals and provide stellar client service.

You have experience working with/at a publisher in the digital and social media industries, and are eager to take the jump into a sales role. You are passionate about Futurism’s editorial mission and the brands that are most relevant to deliver on that mission. You thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, with a small, passionate and creative support team.

Key Responsibilities:

Drive sales revenue

  • Work with the publisher to identify key accounts and agencies that align well with Futurism’s audience and mission.
  • Brainstorm with integrated marketing to put together creative, “big idea” proposals that are both impactful and deliverable, as well as more straightforward “programmatic” campaigns.
  • Interface with clients and your account manager to ascertain KPIs, budgets, creative positioning, timelines, and objectives.
  • Maintain SalesForce opportunity records and partner with sales ops and senior management to provide monthly revenue forecasts.

Evangelize Futurism and Singularity University to the advertising community.

  • Work with marketing teams to develop new and unique product offerings to differentiate our product in the market.
  • Take regular sales meetings to pitch Futurism/Singularity to interested clients.
  • Maintain a regular presence at industry events in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, SF, and elsewhere as needed.
  • Build relationships with key agencies and brands to better anticipate client needs.

Focus on scaling the business.

  • Help senior leadership better understand what’s working and what isn’t.
  • Propose new technical products and verticals to meet in-market demands.
  • Understand how Futurism and Singularity University teams can offer new sponsorship products to the advertising community.

 

Minimum Requirements (you must have): 

  • 1-3 years of sales, client partnerships, business development, sales planning or commensurate experience in a media/creative agency or publishing/digital organization
  • The ability to legally work in the US without visa sponsorship
  • A bachelor’s degree (or at least 3 years of relevant experience)
  • The ability to travel extensively (up to 2-3x per month)

Candidate Profile:

Experience 

  • Experience in digital/media planning or integrated marketing
  • Successfully managing against a seven figure revenue target
  • Reading and writing scopes of work, IOs, and other similar revenue contracts.

Expertise 

  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and relishes the opportunity to work at a startup in paid media and digital builds
  • An understanding of the proposal creation process, especially when it comes to editorial collaboration and client needs.
  • SalesForce experience a plus
  • Google Docs/Sheets/Presentations fluency.
  • Comfortable speaking in media jargon (IE knowing the difference between a CPM and a CPA, a unique and a pageview, and an instream versus an outstream)

The Details:

  • This is a full-time, exempt position.
  • The position reports to the Publisher of Futurism.com.
  • This is an individual contributor position with no supervisory responsibilities, but will work above our integrated marketing and account management roles.
  • The position primary work location will be at Futurism HQ in Williamsburg, NY (Brooklyn)
